This consultant was engaged as Project Manager for a Government department working with the Head of IT to establish a series of projects for the delivery of the government’s e-business strategy. The programme was a £90m project comprising 10 individual projects.

The tasks undertook included:

  • Establish the budget and negotiate with EDS the main suppliers for provision of service.
  • The establishment of a PMO for the project, including all processes and procedures in line with Prince2 methodology.
  • Recruitment of Project Managers, Business Analysts, Project Staff and the Admin Function.
  • The preparation of a detailed Project Plan
  • The preparation of a detailed Resource Plan.
  • Preparing a strategic business case, obtaining feedback and sign off from the project sponsors.
  • The establishment of several project boards, one for each project.
  • The setting up of a Project Steering Committee and preparing all reports and presentations.
  • The supervision of the team that prepared the business cases and business requirement documents this including providing guidance and ensuring clarity.
  • Ensuring all projects had a PID, Project Plan, Project Brief and supporting documents
  • This work was formally handed over to the permanent members of the team within the allocated timescales.
