This consultant has gained wide experience at a senior level in a variety of Programme and Commercial Management roles in both the public and private sectors on a series of multi-million pound, technically complex programmes. For the past 5 years this has included leadership roles in Programme and Commercial Management in the public sector for the management of a number of ERP-based IT programmes valued at £250m, £240m and £100m respectively and a Finance IT portfolio valued at £600m. This work involved the leadership of teams, development of project organisations, significant levels of stakeholder management and extensive communications at all levels.

Prior to working in the public sector, this consultant created and then managed a large projects department for a major food company in East London, with accountability for some 250 concurrent projects, the largest of which was £20m, and leading a team comprising some 50 multi disciplined staff. He also led portions of the major operational cost saving initiative, being the manager responsible for the introduction of improved supply agreements.

Prior to this he was a Programme Director and managed many oil and gas and other infrastructure programmes (up to £180m). Notably, he led a tender over a 20 month period and was nominated as Programme Director for the creation of a new UK-wide railway signalling system, a programme valued at £500m.

This consultant has very considerable experience in the delivery of complex programmes, in sales and marketing activities, in commercial and procurement activities and cost reduction strategies for companies. He has worked for clients and suppliers in both the private and public sectors. Throughout his work, he holds a strong belief that exceptional results are possible through the application of intelligence, innovation and high commitment.

Achievements include:

  • Manager for multiple IT programmes for the Department for a goverment department valued at £250m, £240m and £100m respectively.
  • The development of a programme implementation strategy for a £600m portfolio of Finance IT projects.
  • Bid manager and proposed Programme Director for national transportation companys £500m national Network Management Centre programme.
  • Sales and Marketing Manager for a major multi-national contracting and project management organisation based in London.
  • Head of Department for capital projects and commercials for multi-national food company, accountable for the direction of 250 concurrent projects with an annual spend of circa £40m.
  • Project Manager on many UK oil and gas projects, up to £180m.
  • Director for the Institution of Chemical Engineers annual Project Management course
